But what exactly is embossing and debossing? Embossing is the process of creating raised and textured designs in materials such as paper and cardstock. Debossing, on the other hand, pushes the material downwards to create a 'sunken' effect. Our 3-D Embossing Folders do both, allowing you to achieve that coveted 3-D effect.

Using a 3-D Embossing Folder is a breeze. Start by grabbing your Big Shot Machine and 1 Cutting Pad. For best results when using cardstock, we recommend spraying a fine water mist onto the material before placing it inside the folder, as this will help to create an even deeper impression. Place the folder on top of your platform, complete the sandwich with your cutting pad on top, and with one roll through your die cutting machine, your 3-D design will be revealed!

Note: An Adapter Platform will be required when using embossing folders with any of our Sizzix Big Shot machines. Simply place this under the sandwich you've created and you're ready to go! If you've already purchased one of our Big Shot machines, your adapter is included. Please note that the Magnetic platform is not compatible as it is too high for Embossing and 3-D Embossing folders. Additionally, only 1 cutting pad is needed for a 3-D Embossing Folder.
